There is nothing more exciting and challenging in the
universe than trying to find a new makeup brand to use in your daily routine.
After what seemed like years of using the same brand, it was time for a change.
As being an
educated consumer becomes more mainstream, more information about popular
companies comes to light, positive or negative. Because of that, I found out
that one of my favorite makeup brands – MAC Cosmetics – tests on animals. Any
form of animal testing is something that I consider to be animal abuse, and I
can’t morally see myself giving money to brands who do this.
Now, I’m on
a mission to find another makeup brand that is cruelty-free and makes my skin
look flawless with a wide range of products. Where did I end up? Of course, at my
local Ulta Beauty store.
With me, I
brought my good friend and make-up guru, Jess. She’s been trying colorful and
unique looks with her makeup for years and she has experience with a ton of
different brands. Jess has always been my right-hand man when it comes to
cosmetics, and this time is no different.
The
challenge this time though, is that almost all of the makeup that I use is MAC.
My foundation, bronzer, blush, eyeshadow, eyebrow brush, setting powder,
lipstick, and more were all MAC Cosmetics. I had to change them all; and I
wanted to find a one-brand solution.
I headed
into Ulta with my eyes and wallet wide-open. After a few minutes of searching,
Jess and I decided that getting the opinions of an Ulta employee was probably
the best choice. I asked the employee what a good, skin-friendly brand was that
was also cruelty-free. She immediately pointed
out It Cosmetics.
It Cosmetics? Never heard of them.
I walked
over to the display, and it was just a small display with just a few products.
It seemed like It Cosmetics really focused on face products like foundation,
cover-up, and foundation powder. But, there were a few other products on
display as well, along with a lot of makeup brushes.
I asked the
Ulta employee why she immediately suggested It Cosmetics. She said that she
used it herself, and no other makeup brand had helped her with her breakouts
like It Cosmetics has. As someone who deals with breakouts, that’s something
that I appreciated.
We tested
It Cosmetics on my face, the foundation with the foundation powder on top. I
loved the complete coverage that it gave me without looking cakey. The lightest
shades worked with my skin tone perfectly, and even Jess approved. The bronzer
and blush added the color back to my face that I needed and the overall look
was something I was very satisfied with.
But, I was
curious to see how the foundation lasted on my face for the day before I could
actually buy it. So, Jess and I spent the rest of the day shopping around the
mall, eating a ton of food, and since it was so hot, we were unfortunately
sweating, too. But, by the end of the day, my makeup was looking really good
without even using setting spray. I was thoroughly impressed.
The next
day, I went back to Ulta to get the products and it turned out that I got a
free Brown Pencil with my purchase. This pencil was called “Universal” and was
said to work on any color brow, which made me hesitant since my brows are so
light. I tried the pencil as soon as I got home, and to my disbelief, it worked
really well!
I had Jess
try it too, and it even worked well with her darker brows; she just had to
press the pencil a bit harder than I did. We both loved how easy it was to use,
even for people who don’t normally do their eyebrows.
Now, I’ve
been using It Cosmetics for just over a month and I absolutely cannot talk
about their products enough. Not only are they competitively-priced, but they
are well-pigmented, good for the skin, and last for a long time. I use It
Cosmetics every day now, but never would’ve even considered it if it weren’t
for that employee at Ulta. For being such a small brand, they really produce
high-quality products. And the best part is, they are growing continuously and
keep releasing new products that are fun to try and affordable!
If you’re interested
in trying It Cosmetics, now is the time to act! Ulta is giving out 5x points on
all It Cosmetics purchases from now through the end of October. That means that
if you buy a product for $20, you get 100 points, which is equivalent to
getting money off of your next purchase – I know I’ll be restocking a few of my
products!
It
Cosmetics saved me from my makeup dilemma! I’m now officially an It Girl.
I am definitely interested in trying out It Cosmetics. I appreciate your in depth analysis and by the sound of how this makeup lasts long and is good quality, I think it will be the perfect brand for me!
